FAQs Travel Tips for Mexico Diving Equipment, DiveBlog, Dive Trip Maldives May 2024

I have no diving experience but would still like to go diving. Is it possible?

Yes we can. We can do a so called Discovery Dive.
We meet at 10 am at the dive center for the Discovery Dive and
- talk about the theoretical basics of diving
- go to the pool to test the equipment and take the first breaths underwater
- afterwards we go by boat to the local reefs to have two beautiful dives.
At about 4:30 we are back at the dive center and talk about all the wonderful things we have seen during the dives .

What do I need to take with me?

You just need to bring the desire to dive and a swimsuit or bikini.
Equipment is tested at the dive center and water, snacks, weights and tanks are already on the boat.

When does my dive start?

For dives in Playa dem Carmen and Cozumel:
For the morning dive, we meet at the dive center at 7:45 .
At 8:30 we are on the boat and get ready for two dives.
At 12 o'clock we are back at the dive center.

For the afternoon dive , we meet at 11:30 at the dive center .
At 12:30 we are on the boat and get ready for two dives.
At 17 o'clock we are back at the diving school .

For dives in Cozumel
For the morning dive, we meet at 7:45 at the dive center .
At 8:30 we are on the boat and get ready for two dives.
At about 2pm we are back at the dive center.

For dives in cenotes
For the dive in the cenotes, we meet at 8:30 in the diving school .
We will then drive with a truck to the cenotes and get ready for two dives.
We will be back at the dive center around 4pm.

How is the Open Water course structured?

The Open Water course is divided into 3 days and can be arranged flexibly.
Most often it is conducted in 3 consecutive days, but can also be divided into different days.

On day 1:

We meet at 9am at the dive center.
We do theory in the morning and go to the pool in the afternoon.
The goal is to understand how diving works and in the pool we learn how to solve any problems easily underwater and how to avoid them in advance.

Day 2:

If we have not finished all the theory or the pool we can make up for it in the morning.
Otherwise we meet at 11:30 at the dive center.

At 12:30 we are on the boat and get ready for two dives.
On these dives we repeat some of the skills we learned on day 1 in the pool .

Day 3:

We do 2 more dives with more skills we learned in the pool on day 1.

So it's nothing new, but just a repetition of what, we have already learned before.
We will also do the final theoretical exam. It's really easy and we talk about the most important points of diving beforehand.

I will certify you after completion of the course.
You will receive a PADI number with which you can go diving anywhere in the world to max. 18 meters!

What if I want to cancel the dive?

You can cancel the dive for free the day before 6pm.
After that I have to charge the boat costs.
(40USD for Playa dives and 100USD for Cozumel dives).

Can I take my Gopro with me?

If you have your own Gopro you are welcome to take it with you.
I want to give you the best day of your vacation and I have my Gopro with me and I will make good videos of the dive featuring you .

Safety is the highest priority in diving!
If I am constantly busy helping you to dive, then I have no possibilities to make videos for you. Therefore a good position underwater is important.

If I see that because of a camera your safety is at risk, your diving position is suffering and you are in danger of crashing into the reef, then I will ask you to put the camera away .
I always say, how does a good diver become a bad diver? Give that person a Gopro and he forgets everything he learned about diving.

Therefore, better leave the Gopro, enjoy the dive to the fullest, and afterwards we can watch together the videos I made for you from the dive.
